GOVERNANCE

What is a Co-operative Housing association?

A Co-operative is a group of people working together to benefit all of its members equally.

A housing co-op aims to own and manage its own property. Rather than paying rent to someone else, members of a housing co-op are both tenant and landlord as they own a share in the co-op.

Homes for change is a fully mutually housing Co-op – which means that every tenant and prospective tenant is a member of the co-op.

Governance

In October 2005 Homes For Change voted to change their governance to management committee. The committee are responsible for continuing the day to day running of the co-op. The minutes of each meeting are published and circulated to every member of homes for change.

Late in 2007 Homes for Change handed control of Rent collection to the Mosscare
