Tips for when a Universal Credit claim is made.
How to claim Housing Costs for your rent.
Please note unlike Housing Benefit Universal Credit will always pay the housing
element to you. You are expected to pay this to Homes for Change as your landlord.
You will need to answer questons about your housing situation and give correct
figures for your rent and service charges (water payment – universal credit can not
cover this element).
If you are not sure about these figures or need a copy of the rent increase letters
sent each April contact Shared Habitat on : 0161 791 2000.
You can also email
mike@sharedhabitat.co.uk
gareth@sharedhabitat.co.uk
Also if you really want Universal Credit to pay Homes for Change the rent directly –
speak to Shared Habitat about this.
If at any point you need a copy of your tenancy agreement email membership on
membership@homesforchange.co.uk

1) When you are asked what type of
accommodation you live in please tick Council
or Housing Association. This is because homes for change is a Social Landlord – we are not a private landlord.

2) When you put your address in, the system
will suggest The Guiness partnership as being
the landlord.
This is wrong – click NO.
3) If you can search Homes for Change as a Landlord then add this as the landlord.

If not here are the details to add:
Homes For Change Ltd
Unit 25, 41 Old Birley Street
Hulme
M15 5RF
0161 791 2000
universalcredit@homesforchange.co.uk
Shared Habitat monitor and respond to universalcredit@homesforchange.co.uk and 0161 791 2000. All the forms go for the rent go to Shared Habitat to be verified.
